About

Terrance Dick, born and raised in Vancouver, is known for his musical composition, singing, and performance by the name of Model M- but none of it would have been possible if not for his extensive experience in the music industry. He has worked in studios such as Little Mountain Sound and Vancouver Studios, where he worked on post-production and sound design for many small indie bands in the late 90s as well as larger bands such as Motley Crue and the Cult. He has been recording and mixing his own music since 1984. He is a Buddhist and has many unusual and interesting stories to tell about his life, which is where much of the content of his original music is rooted in.

In 1994, Terrance created a tour band for Model M in Toronto. They began touring the small venue circuit and eventually they made a name for themselves. They had began to create a following, selling out shows in the process. By 1997 it was easy for them to pack the house with crowds of 200 or more.

The first full length CD The Killing Gods was released in 1999, containing most of his material from 1996-1999. It received good reviews from critics and the press alike.

In August 2001 Terrance had an extended vacation in Cuba where he was inspired to spend most of his time writing songs for a new album. When he returned to Canada, within the year his new Model M album Freedom From Want was complete.

Since then, Terrance has released Dusty Demos, a collection of demo songs written the old fashioned way of sampling from 1994-1996— which amazingly still stands the test of time and has proven to be more successful now then it was then... proof that he was ahead of his time.

Now, Terrance has taken a more mature turn into a world in which a new genre had to be formed. This original music mixes the band's industrial roots with a retro, almost lounge-y, sound to create "industralounge." Terrance's creative and innovative use of sound design in his original pieces creates a catchy and cool soundscape that can be enjoyed by everyone. Accompanying his new original CD later this year will be a CD devoted to covers that have been completely redesigned in the way that only Model M could conjure up.
